Since it was announced that Lollipop Chainsaw is getting a remake (opens in new tab), there was a mixture of excitement and concern among the community, including myself. Kept out of the circle with big names like James Gunn and Suda51 (opens in new tab)With licensed music being canned and speaking of "a more realistic approach to graphics," fans feared that a modern day Lollipop Chainsaw will be a far cry from what made the original so damn endearing.
Yoshimi Yasuda, producer of the original and at the helm of the remake, has attempted to allay some of the community's lingering concerns. He shared a lengthy statement on Twitter detailing the team's "thoughts and intentions" regarding the Lollipop Chainsaw remake.
“The primary goal of the Lollipop Chainsaw Remake project is to make it so that players who want to play Lollipop Chainsaw can do it easily, not to create a new Lollipop Chainsaw game,” Yasuda wrote. He added that "the ideal" would be to simply remaster the 2012 original, but said this was not possible due to the loss of the 16 iconic licensed tracks that made up so much of the game's atmosphere.

"So we're aiming instead for a remake that's as close to a remaster as possible," continued Yasuda. He also addressed comments about drastic changes in things like the story and graphics, which he said won't happen. He said the team feels "connected" to Juliet "more than anyone else", adding that his earlier comments about realistic graphics were intended to refer to better use of modern rendering technology.
The statement concluded by quickly addressing censorship and saying that there had been no discussions on the subject yet. However, Yasuda said he wants the game to be "as close to the original version as possible" and will try to keep it that way.
Unfortunately, despite all this, there's still no word on whether the remake will come to PC. With an increase in Japanese developers porting their games to our humble machines, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be included alongside console releases.
