Citizen Sleeper, the cyberpunk life-sim RPG in which you roll dice to simulate the dual battle of a synthetic company on the run and also surviving under capitalism, is getting its first DLC. Called Flux, it's free on July 28.
In Citizen Sleeper, the space station town of Erlin's Eye becomes your new home, which I aptly typed "new hope" just enough. Flux adds a new storyline where refugees begin to arrive at the station, their ships the first wave of a larger fleet. As the station decides how to deal with this influx of bodies and initiates a quarantine protocol, you get to know the crew of a ship called the Climbing Briar. First are Captain Eshe, whose story "will challenge the player to choose how to deal with a growing crisis that could threaten the entire station", and then Peake, who "has a plan to get much-needed help through the quarantine." to the refugee fleet."
Flux is the first in a series of free expansions planned for Citizen Sleeper, with a linked story about it expanding the setting of the Helion system. There are two more episodes to come, including the Citizen Sleeper roadmap (opens in new tab) is tentatively scheduled for October and 2023 respectively. (The description of the trailer on YouTube (opens in new tab) suggests early February for episode three, but notes to be confirmed.)
In his Citizen Sleeper review, Jody Macgregor, an attractive member of the PC Gamer team, wrote: "Citizen Sleeper has multiple endings, some of which let you continue playing to find others. By the time I was done, I still had not seen a single attack.ships on fire from Orion's shoulder or C-beams glistening in the dark, but I had freed an AI from a vending machine, thwarted a few business plans to gain a foothold at the station and bar wants to leave, and I hit the credits three times and find multiple endings in one playthrough."
